HIKE AND RAPPEL IN TIJUCA FOREST
The Tijuca Forest is one of the largest urban forests in the world, located within the boundaries of the Tijuca National Park. It is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is known for its rich diversity of natural beauty, historic attractions, and world-renowned ecotourism.
The Bico do Papagaio trail and rappelling tour begins at the entrance gate of Sector A – Tijuca National Park and includes trails through the Atlantic Forest, a visit to the park’s visitor center and museum, the Cachoeira das Almas, and the trail and rappelling at Bico do Papagaio. The hike starts off easy and continues that way until the base of the mountain, where there are more natural obstacles, a more rugged and steep climb. From the summit of Bico do Papagaio, it is possible to admire the main mountains of the Tijuca National Park such as Pico da Tijuca, Pedra do Conde, Cocanha, Pedra Bonita, and Pedra da Gávea, as well as Sumaré and a small part of Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer.
