Day 1: Welcome to Rio de Janeiro!

On the first day of the Rio and Amazon Package, we will pick you up at Rio de Janeiro airport/bus station (SDU or GIG) and take you to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city at your own pace!

Day 2: The City of Rio de Janeiro!

We will start the day by visiting Corcovado, home to the Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, located in the Tijuca National Park, a place of rich natural beauty.

We will take a break to visit the exterior of the Maracanã Stadium to learn a bit about the history of the stadium that hosted the FIFA World Cup finals in 1950 and 2014.

The tour continues toward the Sambadrome, the stage for the Rio Carnival Samba School parades, with a visit to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian, the city’s patron saint.

We will take a break for lunch (not included).

Our tour continues with a visit to the Sugarloaf Mountain complex, where we will ride the famous Sugarloaf Cable Car. We will also explore Morro da Urca and Red Beach.

Day 3: Ecological City Tour

Meals included: Breakfast

We will begin the ecological tour by visiting the base of Pedra Bonita, where Rio de Janeiro’s Hang Gliding ramp is located. This privileged spot offers a breathtaking view, including Morro Dois Irmãos, São Conrado Beach, and Rocinha Favela. We will then follow the trail to Pedra Bonita, an easy hike that takes about 40 minutes to reach the summit. From the top, you will enjoy views of Pedra da Gávea, Barra da Tijuca, and São Conrado beaches, surrounded by the vast Tijuca Forest. It is a stunning natural viewpoint and one of the best places to photograph Rio de Janeiro.

After descending from Pedra Bonita, the Ecological Tour continues through Tijuca National Park to Vista Chinesa, a pavilion built between 1902 and 1906 to honor the Chinese who brought tea cultivation to Brazil. The “pagoda,” as the structure is originally called, offers a panoramic view from which you can see several tourist attractions, including Christ the Redeemer, Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf Mountain, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, and Ipanema and Leblon beaches.

To end the Ecological Tour on a high note, we will take a refreshing dip at Horto Waterfall. The trail to the waterfall is easy, with a few obstacles along the way, and is located within the boundaries of Tijuca National Park.

Day 4: Goodbye Rio, Welcome to Manaus!

We will take you to Rio de Janeiro airport (SDU or GIG) and pick you up at Manaus Airport (MAO), dropping you off at your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city at your leisure!

Optional activity: Manaus City Tour depending on your flight time.
Manaus City Tour (Optional): In this tour, you will visit the main attractions of the city, including the Amazon Opera House, Rio Negro Palace, and the Port. Learn about the history and geography of the region.

Day 5: Welcome to the Amazon Rainforest!

All meals included (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

We will start the fifth day of the Package Rio and Amazon Rainforest with a car transfer to Ceasa Port, including a brief visit to the Ceasa fish and fruit market.

We will board a regional boat and take a river journey to the Meeting of the Waters. There will be a brief stop to take photos of the confluence of the Rio Negro and Solimões Rivers. There is also the possibility of spotting dolphins in this area.

Continuing the journey, we will head to Vila do Careiro, from where we will travel by land (van or minibus) along the BR 319 highway. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to admire the giant water lilies, with a brief stop for photos before continuing on the road toward our destination.

From the 14th branch on the AM-020 highway, the journey will continue by motorized boat. This part of the trip is a true adventure, as we follow a beautiful path through the Igarapés (small river branches) and the Igapós (flooded forest areas).

We will arrive at the Lodge around 12 PM, followed by check-in and a tour of the lodge facilities.

In the afternoon, we will take a motorized canoe trip to explore the surrounding area. This is a great opportunity to observe the Amazon’s fauna and flora, with the possibility of spotting monkeys, sloths, and various species of birds.

Day 6: Exploring the Forest and Amazon Rivers

All meals included (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

We will start another day of the Package early, with a motorized canoe ride to witness the sunrise and enjoy the beautiful morning bird flight. After sunrise, we will return to the Lodge.

After breakfast, a series of activities are planned: the first will be a jungle walk accompanied by a specialized guide, who will teach us survival techniques in the Amazon rainforest, as well as how to identify edible plants.

We will also learn about the diversity of medicinal plants in the Amazon.

In the afternoon, around 3 PM, we will continue with more activities along Tracajá Lake. We will take a canoe ride to observe birds and contemplate the Amazon’s fauna and flora. During the journey, there is a chance to spot sloths and monkeys.

After dinner, our guide will take us on a motorized canoe ride to observe nocturnal animals, including spotting alligators.

Day 7: Immersion in Amazonian Culture

All meals included (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

After breakfast, we will begin our morning tour, which includes a visit to a caboclo house, where we will have the opportunity to learn about their customs, culture, and way of life. Afterward, we will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, we will take a motorized canoe to fish for piranhas near Tracajá Lake. At sunset, we will return to the lodge.

Day 8: Wildlife Contemplation

You will go on a wildlife observation tour, with the chance to spot dolphins, alligators, and Amazonian birds.

In Rio de Janeiro:

In the Amazon: The Amazon, located near the Equator, is characterized by a humid climate and high temperatures, making it one of the rainiest regions in the world. There is no completely dry season; only variations in the amount of rainfall.

Rainy Season: From December to May, with temperature and rainfall peaks between February and April, this is when the forest and wildlife are most active.

Less Rainy Season: From June to November, the rainfall decreases, but still occurs.

River Floods and Droughts: River levels vary dramatically throughout the year, directly affecting activities and experiences in the region.

River Floods: The rainy season starts in December, but rivers only begin to rise significantly between April and May, reaching their peak levels from June to September. This period allows for unique navigation through the flooded forests, almost at the height of the tree canopies, and coincides with the breeding season for many animals.

River Droughts: Starting in August, the waters begin to recede, revealing submerged beaches and allowing different land-based activities. Between October and November, the rivers reach their lowest levels, ideal for enjoying the beaches and hiking.

This annual cycle of floods and droughts defines the unique dynamics of the Amazon, transforming the region and offering different experiences throughout the year.

Do I need a visa for the Package Rio and Amazon Rainforest?

How to Get to Rio de Janeiro?

By Plane: There are direct flights to Rio de Janeiro, served by two airports: Santos Dumont Airport (SDU) in the city center and RIOgaleão – Tom Jobim International Airport (GIG) located further out.

By Car: From São Paulo, take the Ayrton Senna/Carvalho Pinto (SP 070) and Via Dutra (BR 116) highways. You will reach the Linha Vermelha after approximately 430 km.
Coming from Belo Horizonte, take the BR 040, which will lead you to the Linha Vermelha. From Belo Horizonte to Ipanema Beach is about 450 km.
For those traveling along the Rio-Santos (BR 101), the highway becomes Avenida Brasil when entering Rio. From Paraty to Copacabana is around 250 km. From Bahia, Espírito Santo, or the Região dos Lagos, take the BR 101 and check your GPS for the least congested route. Copacabana Beach is about 520 km from Vitória.
By Bus: The Rio de Janeiro Bus Station is in the Port Zone, between downtown and the Rio-Niterói Bridge. It is 4 km from the city center and 12 km from Copacabana, with nearby public transport (buses and VLT).

How to Get to the Amazon?

You need to travel to Manaus. From there, our reception service will pick you up and take you to your Lodge in the Amazon.

When to Go to the Amazon?

Flood Season: March to August.
Dry Season: September to February.

We recommend the flood season for visiting the Amazon, as the rivers and biodiversity are at their peak. However, the region can be visited year-round.
We suggest June, July, and August when the weather tends to be more favorable, while summer months see more rainy days.

What physical effort is involved in the Package Rio and Amazon Rainforest?

Some activities, like hiking, require physical effort. However, these activities are not overly difficult. As long as you don’t have reduced mobility, you will fully enjoy the trip. We can also adapt the itinerary to your needs.

Do I need to train for the Package Rio and Amazon Rainforest activities?

No training is required. Our guides will be there to provide full support.

Where will we sleep during the Package Rio and Amazon Rainforest?

Postponement and Cancellation Policy for the Package Rio and Amazon Rainforest

Weather and meteorology: The itinerary and order of excursions may be subject to change due to weather and/or adverse conditions for tourism activities. If necessary, Nattrip will reschedule the activity to a compatible date at no additional cost.

Cancellations due to personal reasons by the customer: According to normative resolution number 161 of August 9, 1985, by EMBRATUR, refunds will be processed as follows:

Cancellation up to 30 days before the start of the activity: 90% refund of the total value;
Cancellation between 29 and 21 days before the start of the activity: 80% refund of the total value;
Cancellation less than 21 days before the start of the activity: no refund.

No-show situations: In the case of “no-show” situations, where the client does not notify the postponement or cancellation in advance and/or does not participate in the activity, Nattrip reserves the right to withhold any refund to the client.
